A hammer is used for driving in nails and for breaking things down. Usually this is a handle and a head together in one piece. You can also get specialty hammers such as a framing hammer, upholstery hammer, ball-peen hammer, rubber mallet, wooden mallet, and a sledgehammer.

There are flat nose pliers, round nose pliers, and needle nose pliers. Usually gripping pliers are the most common type of pliers. You definitely need to make sure that this is in your toolbox.
A tape measure will help you measure things and can be made of a wide variety of materials. You can have one made of cloth, ribbon, or even metal. You need one to measure things around your house and for any projects you maybe working on.
